Overview
McKenney's is seeking experienced Test & Balance Technicians to join our team. Our team exists to guarantee the comfort of our customers and the efficiency of their systems. This is mid-level position responsible for performing Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB) of projects to fulfil that purpose in accordance with all NEBB standards while performing diversified duties as a TAB Technician.Responsibilities
- Inspect systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications and to detect potential or existing malfunctions in system components.
- Testing and adjustment of air and hydronic systems, using specialized, company provided, equipment.
- Diagnose, Test, Adjust, and Balance system components to achieve optimal system performance.
- Investigate system and operational deficiencies to determine corrective actions. Read and interpret project mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment performance data to determine proper balancing techniques.
- Maintain proper documentation of daily activities using project specific reporting procedures.
- Pay attention to the details and ensure all Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing performed, as well as any issues discovered are addressed fully using clear verbiage and accompanied with supporting documentation.
- Actively participate in the company’s NEBB TAB Technician Training Program to ensure all required NEBB and company standards and practices are maintained.
- Collaborate with McKenney’s construction foremen and project managers on projects to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- NEBB TAB Certified Technician (or AABC or TABB Certification)
- A minimum of two years’ experience in the TAB industry
- Clean driving record and MVR
- High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent.
- Basic Microsoft Operating System knowledge (Excel & MS Word)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- NEBB TAB Certified Technician or NEBB TAB Certified Professional
- Five years of experience in the TAB industry
- Experience in healthcare facility testing.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE 170
- Knowledge of NFPA stairwell pressurization criteria
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS
- Ability to climb and work at heights, walking, and standing for extended periods of time, lifting, bending, pushing, and moving objects up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments; must also be able to drive in various conditions to conduct work.
- Work environment involves some exposure to construction, mechanical and electrical-related hazards, or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Work requires local and occasional out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations.
