Controls Install Technician II

Our Controls Install Techs are instrumental in supporting our Installation teams in building long-term customer relations, solving problems, and making recommendations to improve customer systems. They will assist in developing, building, testing, and commissioning building systems such as HVAC, lighting, power, and monitoring.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Assist teams of installers in developing, building, testing, and commissioning building control systems.
· Uphold controls installation standards and best practices for current systems and methods
· Basic level understanding of mechanical systems in the buildings we serve
· Provide job leadership to other install team members and lead the installation efforts on jobs.
· Diagnose and repair control systems malfunctions
· Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams mechanical drawings and blueprints
· Conduct basic building control system installation, configuration, testing, and repair.
· Respond to BAS emergencies during off hours if necessary.
· Prepare documentation and reports on work status and completion.
· Must complete Pathway and pass performance checkout, as well as hold the role for a minimum of 12 months until you can progress to Controls Install Tech 3.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· 1-4 years of experience with building automation system install, OR equivalent
· Working knowledge of basic electronics, logic, and systems design.
· Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, web-enabled applications, and database software.
· High School diploma
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR equivalent certification
· Computer networking experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY, AND CHARACTERISTICS
· Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, network, and wiring drawings.
· Ability to manage professional e-mail communications
· Ability to manage and maintain a calendar and task management systems
· Ability to present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude always.
· Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic and timeliness
· Must uphold company values and demand the highest level of conduct from self and others
· Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
· Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
· Work environment involves moderate exposure to construction hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
· Moderate physical effort. It requires the handling of objects of average weight up to 50 pounds and extensive sitting. Some walking and standing.
