HVAC Sheet Metal Designer - Charlotte
JOB SUMMARY
The designer shall work in a team environment to develop accurate, constructible, coordinated, and timely sheet metal system models meeting McKenney’s drafting standards and fully coordinated with the architectural & structural elements of the building and the other building trades (sprinkler, plumbing, piping, etc.). A sheet metal designer will also be responsible for providing accurate shop drawings that support the construction team. The designer will report to the modeling supervisor and be responsible for interacting with the fabrication supervisor, detailers, project managers, project engineers, and field foreman.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Utilize McKenney’s CAD standards to create sheet metal models consistent with company and project requirements.
• Accurately model sheet metal systems in compliance with project plans and project specifications.
• Coordinate all ductwork and mechanical equipment with the architectural and structural elements of the building.
• Coordinate all ductwork, mechanical equipment, and access requirements with mechanical piping, plumbing, and other building trades to avoid installation conflicts in the field.
• Utilize the fabrication team to provide annotated, dimensioned shop drawings.
• Review, and distribute fabrication and installation information for all ductwork and associated mechanical equipment including shop drawings, duct tickets, CAM files, and assembly drawings to project managers and field leaders.
• Effectively and proactively communicate with project managers, project engineers, and field foremen during the drafting and construction process. This includes communication of challenges and schedule progress on a timely basis (weekly at a minimum).
• Use Company tools to manage requests for information and shop drawing progress.
• Proactively identify and communicate areas of deficiency/gaps along with proposed solutions on projects to support timely completion of work.
• Work with project manager and field foreman to create As-Built drawings for projects.
• Produce all documents on time and within budget (estimated drafting hours) promptly based on job requirements to meet the commitments to our customers, both internal and external.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 5 years working in the sheet metal trade or 5 years of sheet metal design experience using Revit 2019 or higher or other 3-D drafting packages
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with sheet metal drafting using Autodesk Fabrication CADmep software or F
• Ability to size low-pressure ductwork, select air distribution, and similar activities.
• 2-year Associate's Degree in drafting or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field.
• Ability to visualize three-dimensional layouts from two-dimensional drawings.

• Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software
